Niji Olagbegi is THE ABSOLUTE WORST SOCCER COACH that I have ever had. I really do not even know where to start. He knew nothing about soccer!!! This was my biggest issue with him. He had us doing rec-level drills that could not possibly help us on the field. His conditioning practices were not suited for soccer players. He discouraged creativity on the ball during practice and in the game. I became a worse soccer player since I've been on his team. He constantly told us that soccer was more important than school and that the reason we were at school was to play soccer. I left my books in the bus one time at an away game, and he told me that I could not get them because I had to sleep well for my game the next day (Meanwhile, it was early!! Maybe 8 or 9 o clock. He has YELLED at me on more than one occasion to put my books away during away trips. He lied during the recruiting process...telling us he would buy us whatever cleats we wanted...and then took us to a sports store and told us we couldn't get cleats over $50. (Proper cleats are a big part of performance) He always came to practice late and sometimes did not even show up. One year, we had the playoffs coming up in a few days and instead of working on our weaknesses as a team, he decides to walk over to the tennis court (a few yards away from the soccer field) and coach tennis. He had his brother (who was not yet a coach) supervising us. Niji called for meetings that he showed up 3 hours late to. That is no exaggeration! He didn't want to listen to anything his players had to say. There was NO TALKING TO THAT MAN. He had us showing up late to away games. He was very unaware of the diet that a soccer player should have. I remember going to eating dinner at a Outback at 11:00pm, arriving at the hotel around 3am and ordering us pizzas (2 ppl to a pie) when we had a game the next day. I can go on and on but i will rap it up. Bottom line...niji knew nothing about the sport, he was disrespectful to the young women on his team, and he took the love of the game away from his players.
